Hola twerps.
We arrived in one peice to Cabo thanks to our captain Mr Glenn Corman... hahaha i was dying. Did you catch the reference to Family Guy's one and only Glenn Quagmire who is also a pilot. I giggled. And Of course I sat by a couple from Ann Arbor, MI. What are the odds? Geeze... Wolverines everywhere. They were nice though :) The airport at Cabo was nice but the people... Oh my gosh. Trying to tell us a "better cab" or a "better resort" with discounts and stuff. All at the airport. It was bizarre. Uncle Rick fell prey to two of them but I could see he was just too kind to tell them "no". So naturally I butted in. And we were on our way! Hahaha. We couldn't find our actual cab because the people that you would think would help you, did not. They only tried to sell you something else. So I go up to a bar outside the airport and ask him what to do. My logic was that he would only try to sell me a drink (which he didn't) so it was cool. He pointed us in the right direction!
We got on the shuttle and got to Riu Palace. On the way we went through the Baja Desert. It was so beautiful in such a different way. It showed me the true immensity of the world! The tropics and dessert is so different from the temperate climates I have been to.
We were welcomed to the resort with Margaritas, beer, and some fruit cocktail. "Welcome home" said the little Mexican waiter. Everyone there was so awesome. They treated us like celebrities! Although our room wasnt ready for us for another few hours.
We went to explore a bit and grab lunch. We went to a "specialty resturant" (Japanese). It was a 4 course lunch...... Geeze. The waitress put our napkins on our laps for us after pulling out our chairs. I had a glass of wine, it was good at first but then was too bitter. First course was fresh sushi. It was so delicious. I don't normally like the sashimi or whatever it is called with just rice and a piece of fish but the salmon was so delicious... Second course I had a salmon salad thing. It had seaweed salad, peanuts, escargot, and salmon on it. Very good... Next wok fried grouper. It was ok. It had bell peppers in it so that kind of ruined it for me because I despise those! But it was prepared well and tasted good (the fish). On top of the dish was something really weird... It moved... It looked like little nasty barnicals or something. I think the waitresses said something about "marrow" in it... Awk.i ate it of course lol. Fried ice cream for dessert! It was LITERALLY fried! So when you broke the shell, the ball of ice cream was a little melted! It was incredible! Peaches on the side ;)
We then walked around. Went down on the sand and were bombarded by sales people trying to sell this and that. They had some beautiful pottery.... I kind of want one but idk how to bring it home... Middle of my clothes I suppose. We spotted henna tattoos.
After getting our bathing suits on, we went back down to the beach, and haggled to get some henna for $20 for both of us rather than $40 that he initially wanted. So we each got one on our hip. Brooke got a sun and I got a moon with a sleepy face. He is cute. The guys that did it were really funny. The one helped us pick them out, and when the other was drawing on me he walked by and said "ohhhh that's a gonna be a very seeeeexy" hahahaha. I couldn't help but laugh. Brooke laughed so I lost it and the dude almost messed up. But he didn't. Then Brooke got hers done.
We then went and laid in the sun to get some color. We had to shoo away the sales people about half a dozen times. Eventually I pretended to sleep!
At one point this guy (Mexican) walked by us headed over to a jet ski or something. He had a resort outfit on or lifeguard thing... He said hola to me when I looked at him. Ill tell you... He was beautiful.
It got cold after a while because the wind was blowing and the sun was starting to set. Brooke and I set off to find Rick, as we had left him at the bar. Somehow we found him easily. Went back to the room, unpacked. And now here I am.
We are going to a nice dinner tonight so I get to wear a cute dress and such. Brooke is in the shower now and I'm next. Can't wait because I feel grimy from the sand.
There is a liquor dispenser in our room with 4 bottles of Smirnoff, Jose Cuervo, Bacardi, and some sort of rum. (Why's all the rum gone?) all inclusive resorts are sweet. Walk up to the bar, get whatever you want and walk away. Boom done.
Gotta watch them and ask them for top shelf though. They gave me poison tequila in my piña colada. Good grief it tasted like a hangover waiting to happen. No thank you señor.
I iMessages mom and said we got her e and I have wifi. Her reply= this better not cost me. You grump! It won't. I made sure i turned off all cellular and SMS and MMS messaging. The beauty of the iPhone.
OMG dinner tonight was so good, I can't even come to tell. Apparently it's usual to have four courses. Salad was first, bread, an a seafood platter. That's all just appetizer. Not to mention a sangria drink they gave us on the walk to the table. Which he actually took from me to carry downstairs so I didn't have to... Geeze. So fancy. Surf and turf for my main course. Lobster and steak cooked to perfection... Then a chocolate cake thing for dessert.. It wasnt very good. Brooke and Rick had Alaskan Suflee. And the dude lit it on fire! It was awesome!
Then we went upstairs and sat at the bar and waiting for the Michael Jackson show. Let me tell you, Mexico LOVES da king of pop. Dayum. Loves him. Brooke and I stayed for two songs and couldn't really deal with much more than that.
I look forward to potential activities of skydiving, surfing, jet skiing, scuba and drunkenness.
Goodnight.
Mexico loves MJ. Lots.
I really like reading the posts. Great pics! Tell Rick and Brook we say 'Hola'. Stick with the top shelf stuff :-)
